Greggio was founded in 1948 by Rino Greggio. At the age of 14 he entered a silversmith workshop in Padua as an apprentice and there he learned the secrets of the trade. After the war, and with 21 liras from the sale of his bicycle, he purchased 1Kg of silver and together with 2 employees he worked tirelessly.

Over the years, the range of patterns designed has achieved international recognition. Greggio developed its own research and development centre with the purpose of analysing new materials that could be combined with silver, new types of craftsmanship which could make silver easier to use and handle, and the study of new lines in order to satisfy the needs of the consumer.

In the 1990s, Greggio had great growth; it was established in its own corner in Harrods and in 1994 it founded the Academy of Silver with the aim of preserving and developing the history, traditions and philosophy of silver.
