LSA International
Mouthblown glass provides endless opportunities for transformation. Experience provides the chance to experiment with different techniques. Sand, Ash and Lime are heated in the kiln and glassblowers work in teams, each person being responsible for a different part of the process, undertaking training for years in order to be expert craftsmen.

LSA International was co-founded in London in the 1960s by Janusz Lubkowski and Tony Saunders. LSA stands for Lubkowski Saunders and Associates.
Janusz was born in Lwow, then Poland, now western Ukraine. He was displaced with his mother during World War 2 and deported to Siberia, eventually managing to secure transport to Palestine. After the war they were relocated to London where Janusz trained as a civil engineer. While working at the Building Design Partnership in 1964 he met Tony.
Terence Conran's Habitat had recently opened, one of the products sold being affordable kitchen equipment, including enamelware. Janusz and his wife Ewa were drawn to these items, which reminded them of the kitchenware they had grown up with. They took a case of samples to show Terence and he immediately placed an order. Janusz asked Tony to join him and LSA International was formed.
LSA International is a family business and Janusz's daughter, Monika Lubkowska-Jonas, is the Designer and Creative Director, joining the company in 1985.
The heritage of LSA International is reflected in the origin of the products: craftsmen use traditional methods of working with the original materials that have always been part of their collections. Having over 50 years of experience allows them to create items to the strengths of each material.
Once the basic shape has been created, it is then finished by hand while the glass is still hot. One of the most skillful finishing techniques is 'scissor cutting', which is done while the glass is hot, which produces a thick, rounded rim.
LSA International works ethically to undertake sustainable practices. Their designs produce lasting products, encouraging the customer to buy less and own longer. LSA use discarded waste in their recycled glass collections, transforming bottles and jars into useful items.
