Stelton
Stelton is an innovative Danish design house founded in 1960. Their aim is to create timeless and functional designs, which are sustainable because they stand the test of time and can be cherished for years and passed on to future generations. Stelton's products are the result of collaborations with international designers and architects, and have been awarded design prizes. Stelton's icon designs are present in homes and offices worldwide.

Stelton was founded in 1960 by Stellan and Carton, two soldiers who combined their names to make one of the most well known brands in Denmark. To begin with they tried to sell sports shoes and furniture but this was unsuccessful. They heard about a factory in Fårevejle, Northern Seeland, called ‘Danish Stainless’, which produced stainless steel serveware, which was very popular at the time. After making a deal with the owner, Jørgen Knudsen, they began to promote a stainless steel sauce bowl, which became very popular in hardware stores; at this time, outside of Denmark, the gravy boat was becoming popular.
In 1963 Peter Holmblad became employed and he brought new ideas to expand the company. Initially his ideas were new catalogues, packaging and graphic designs but he knew that this was not enough and the only way to survive would be to create new designs. Peter was Arne Jacobsen’s stepson and he was one of the most famous Danish architects and designers, so Peter approached him with his ideas. Arne was very busy so Peter made some drawings hoping that they would provoke Arne to take over; this strategy succeeded and after 3 years the Cylinda-line was launched in 1967.
Stelton was acquired by the Ring family in 2004 and since then they have collaborated with international designers. For more than 50 years Stelton has graced the offices, restaurants and private homes of those appreciating good design. Recently their tea and coffee collections have included jugs and cups in stoneware, their Emma range in steel and beech, and different French Press models along with mocha coffee makers.
