Theresienthal

Discover the elegance of Theresienthal, where tradition meets innovation in exquisite glassware. Their handcrafted pieces are not just functional, they are works of art that elevate any setting.

Theresienthal began in 1836, founded by Franz and Wilhelm Steigerwald as the Royally Bavarian Privilleged Glassworks Theresienthal.

In 1843 the company went bankrupt, the management was dismissed, and the Royal Bavarian Bank took over the glassworks.

In 1861 Theresienthal was bought by Michael von Poschinger, who quickly turned the business around and made it successful. In 1863 he married Henriette Steigerwald, daughter of Wilhelm Steigerwald, one of the founders of the glassworks. From 1870-1900 Theresienthal benefitted from Henriette’s designs.

In 1912 Michael’s sons, Hans and Egon, took over the glassworks following his death.

Hans died in 1951, leaving Egon to run the company as the sole owner until 1973 when he sold Theresienthal to Max Gangkofner and Hutschenreuther. In 1982 Hutschenreuther took sole ownership of the glassworks.

In 2006 a local family purchased Theresienthal and continue to run it to this day.
