In 1856, Giuseppe Sambonet, the son of a nobleman from Vercelli and a Fine Arts graduate, set up the company Giuseppe Sambonet and deposited the punch with his initials at the Turin mint. His company was the official supplier to many noble families, including the Duchess of Genoa and the Count of Turin.
Roberto Sambonet was born in Vercelli in 1924 and studied painting at the Brera Academy in Milan and Architecture at the Polytechnic. Since 1954, he worked with the family business, dealing with graphics and communications. In 1970 his Fish Kettle won the Compasso d?Oro, which is currently in the collection at the MoMA, New York.
In 1997 Sambonet became part of the Paderno group.
