For over a century, Peter Reed has been a symbol of fine craftsmanship, creating luxurious linens and home furnishings in Lancashire since 1861. They were awarded the Royal Warrant by Her Majesty The Queen in 2008, recognising their unwavering commitment to excellence, quality, craftsmanship and service. They were awarded the Royal Warrant as Manufacturers of Bed Linen to His Majesty King Charles III in 2024. Their mission centres on curating linens that reflect each individual’s unique style, offering custom monograms and intricate embroidery. Their skilled team are poised to bring clients’ aspirations to life with precision and artistry.

Established in 1861 by Peter Reed on the slopes of Pendle Hill, their story began in Lancashire, the heart of Britain's cotton industry, affectionately dubbed Cottonopolis. Over two-thirds of the world's cotton was transformed into fabrics, dyed, printed and exported around the world. By 1891, at Springbank Mill, Peter Reed operated over 740 looms, making it the second-largest weaving mill in the world. In 1968 Peter Reed introduced the first automatic loom to the UK, which revolutionised the weaving process and set new standards for accuracy.

Despite the industry's decline in the 1970s and 80s, they continued to produce their own cloth until 2008. Today, Peter Reed sources luxurious fabric from Italy, with all products meticulously crafted at Butterworth Mill.

Until the late 1940s, Peter Reed embroideries were hand-crafted in Madeira, with designs drawn by hand on brown paper using black ink. Today they are crafted at Butterworth Mill, offering bespoke colours, embroidery designs, sizes, shapes and thread counts.
