Legle Limoges
In the late 19th century, Marie Olympe Briere, the great grandmother of Frederic Lebouc, operated a small workshop producing everyday china objects. Her forward-thinking approach led her to send her son, Frederic Legrand, to study in England.
In 1904, Frederic Legrand established a porcelain business in Limoges, also venturing into the production of electric parts made of porcelain due to its excellent insulating properties. This venture flourished, eventually becoming the world's largest electric device company. His daughter Paule married Andre Lebouc, an engineer, who later managed the Legrand company.
Following the war, the Legrand company was sold, prompting Andre Lebouc and his son Hugues to establish the pioneering PORAL porcelain plant in 1949. This facility revolutionized manufacturing processes and improved working conditions, garnering attention for its innovative approach.
In 1953, Andre and Hugues Lebouc founded Porcelain LEGLE, departing from PORAL to focus on porcelain production. Hugues led advancements in decoration processes and introduced a tile manufacturing plant, "les Carreaux de Limoges," showcasing a commitment to innovation.
Frederic Lebouc, son of Hugues and grandson of Andre, assumed leadership in 2000 following his father's passing. He modernized manufacturing processes and introduced new collections, preserving the legacy of craftsmanship while embracing technological advancements. His dedication to the company's heritage and ongoing pursuit of innovation continues to elevate Porcelain Legle's reputation globally.
