Daum
Traditional glass makers take clear glass and add colours to it to achieve the effect they are looking for - controlling the whole process. By using the pate de verre (glass or crystal paste) method the control is out of the glass makers hands. This technique was common under the Pharaohs of Egypt and it was revived by Daum and they remain the only crystal manufacturer to use this method.
Use of the crystal paste method produces creations that are unrivaled for brilliance and intensity of colour. When the creation is fired, the crystal pieces fuse, creating the colour and softness that Daum is known and admired for. Only when the artisan is happy with the final piece is the Daum signature added.

Daum's use of pate de verre in their crystal vases and sculptures adds a unique and intricate touch. This ancient glass casting technique allows for delicate details and vibrant colours that are not achievable with traditional glassblowing methods. The result is stunning pieces that showcase the artistry and craftsmanship of Daum's skilled artisans.
